Overview

You can set some preferences that apply throughout pERP, and some preferences that apply to each specific application. The app-specific preferences deal mostly with setting how material from the app is displayed on the home page (setting the hooks) and are with each application.

To open the Preferences menu from anywhere in pERP, click the word Preferences in the top bar (top left of any screen).

Change Your Password

Changing your password is easy. But be sure you remember the new one!

File:Change_Password.png

  1. Enter your old password in the first field. This may be the temporary password you were issued when first you were given a pERP user account.
  2. Choose a new password and enter it.
  3. Re-enter the password. It must be identical to the one in step #2.
  4. Click Change

This will change only your pERP password and will not affect any other software.

Common Preferences

The settings in this section affect many screens in pERP. Most of these will be fine in the default, and we recommend that you leave the settings alone except for the Max matches per page. However, exploring this section will do no harm.

NOTE: The above image show three tabs that may not show on your screen. These tabs are available to IT administrators to control how much users are allowed to change various settings.

  • Max matches per page - how many lines of data do you want showing? You might want this set relatively low to reduce the amount of up/down scrolling you need to do, but sometimes you may need to show more on the screen to make more effective use of Find (Crtl-F or Apple-F) or to save edits

NOTE: Having more lines or columns on the screen will make pages slower to load. There is always a tradeoff between speed of operation and amount of information displayed.

  • Interface/Template selection - This determines the layout, colors, etc. of the display. At present, there are only two - iDots and jerryr. You are welcome to look at these, but pERP was developed using iDots and the screens will all look better with this template.
  • Show navigation bar as - icon and/or text. Icon and text (both) are recommended for new users, but as you work with pERP you can choose one or the other and get a little more room on your screen.

  • How to show the General eGroupWare menu - Leave this as set.
  • Show home and logout button in main application bar - This one's been removed; they always show in the top left corner.
  • Max number of icons in navigation bar - you can change this, but won't see much because most users won't have a lot of icons up there. Additional icons are shown in a drop-down menu at the far right of the bar.
  • Autohide Sidebox menus - The default is Yes, so that the side menu will pop in and out. Set this to No to have the Sidebar always showing to the left of your working screen. You cannot remove the sidebar entirely.
  • Disable slider effects - You can try this to see if it works. Then go back to the default (off) because the slider effects slow down your system.
  • Disable Internet Explorer png-image-bugfix - If you are using IE and your icons look funny, you can try changing this. Otherwise, leave it alone.
  • Show page generation time - If you see this, leave it alone. It might be interesting if you're into that sort of thing, but you really don't need to know that a page took 0.38 seconds to draw, and it will slow you down.
