User Preferences

Overview
The Preferences section sets how screens look, how some features operate, or how some applications work. You can set some preferences that apply throughout pERP, and some preferences that apply to each specific application. The application-specific preferences deal mostly with setting how material from the module is displayed on the home page (setting the hooks).
To open the Preferences menu from anywhere in pERP, look for the Preferences link at the top left of any screen. You may find it in the top bar:
The Preferences may also be found in a slide-out General Menu, also found at the top left of any page:
( The little arrow opens up into the General Menu: )
However you get to it, the Preferences page contains a wide range of sections. Most settings for the average user will only change the appearance (color, layout) of pERP pages or the operation of features (slide-out menuts, number of items per page). Administrators and managers have greater control over these.
Common Preferences
Administration Preferences
- - This section is available only to the Admins group.
(this might not be the right link)
Application Preferences
If you have access to an application such as Accounts Receivable, Sales Orders, or Inventory, you should also have access to the Preferences for that Application.
Generally speaking, you cannot "damage" anything by making changes in your preferences, but you might forget that you've made a change, and then get confused if something looks different a day or two later.
Common Controls
The following controls will apply to almost any Preference page:
- Save - After you have made any changes to your preferences, click this control to make the changes permanent. Changes will take effect the next time you log in.
- Apply - After you have made any changes to your preferences, click this control to apply the changes for the remainder of your work session. The settings will not be saved and if you log out or are timed out, all changes will revert to your previous settings.
- Cancel - Exit the Preferences screen without saving or applying any changes
- Help Off/On - Turns off the explanation line under the bold-faced settings. NOTE: may not work as expected due to an eGroupware issue. This is a known issue; please do not file a bug report for this.
